Lia Bordon spent 42 years of her life as Janez, got married, started a family, and then on one particular night decided to do what she knew she wanted to do since childhood. She knew she was meant to live as a woman. A difficult period of transition followed, during which she even contemplated suicide. But she wasn’t alone on her journey. She was still married to her wife, her two teenage kids accepted the transition better than many adults, and most of her friends stuck by her side. And because of that, she is now able to live her life as her authentic self.
