In episode 162 of the podcast, I host two inspiring guests – Lia and Sara Bordon. You met Lia in episode 160 and the bonus episode I posted before this conversation. In the bonus episode, you can hear Lia’s life story.
Lia was born a woman in a male body. Even as a child, she was attracted to things that were supposed to appeal to girls but not to boys. Due to the place and time she grew up she repressed her childhood feelings until they burst out again at 42.
Lia shared her story publicly last summer and became one of the most recognizable voices of transgender people in Slovenia. Through her story, she communicates that being transgender is not a disease that can be cured and that being transgender is not contagious.
By Lia’s side in today’s episode is also her wife Sara, who shares her experience and the journey that began with Lia’s transition. She speaks honestly about how she felt when Lia first told her about her realization, what she feared most, and their relationship today. Lia and Sara have been together for 24 years, they remain married, and their relationship has never been more harmonious.
