“I am a woman. I’ve known that for as long as I can remember.” With these words, Lia Bordon, who was assigned male at birth, took to Twitter over the summer to share the news that, at 42, she was embarking on a transition journey. She decided to come out publicly as she saw it as an opportunity to help other transgender people as well as those who don’t know any transgender people and struggle with understanding and accepting them, or who are afraid of them.
